The rise and fall of LabourList

No one can doubt that the excruciating effort that is LabourList has been a welcome distraction to the veteran blog reader.

One of the first posts I remember reading on that site concerned itself with the idea that the “tories did not get the web” and did not know how to use new technology.

There was no basis for this claim. It was a straw man. Essentially Draper and crew attempted to retread the idea that those on the right are stuffy and out of touch. They all have blue rinses so could not possibly work out how to use the web. Their assumptions had to doublethink to survive. Tories did not get the net but LabourList exists as an attempt to regain the blog from the Right, from Ian Dale and Guido. From this rather pathetic start only good things were bound to flow.

Lets be honest. Draper was given a very simple order by Downing Street. Get Guido.

The order-order.com website is a phenomenon. It has scalped two government ministers and is currently pursuing the Home Secretary. It is this activity that the Brown government wants to shut down because it hates the scrutiny. That and the fact he has successfully introduced the job title of Prime Mentalist into the British political phrase book.

Draper was to deploy a counterbalance to Guido et al. He was to send into battle a group of heavyweight writers who would forever change the way the internet voted. The only problem was that when you control the dead tree press you control the debate. When you step into our back yard anyone with a blog has right of reply. And when the great fisker bloggers like Devils Kitchen get involved you are going to be destroyed.

Don’t get me wrong. The plan was sound. Just the execution was complete fucking horseshit. It reminded me of Sean Connery in The Untouchables. Draper brought the knife.

When I think of this situation I think of it like the old sea battles of old. Guido sails around the Westminster blogosphere in a mighty battleship. He has identified a product, a customer and a style and has spent years building a brand, getting name recognition and becoming an armour plated large calibre force.

Draper launched a 10 ft wooden dingy, called it HMS Dreadnought and was crushed in the ensuing [brief] battle.

Like a Ritalin deprived ADHD sufferer Derek had not laid the foundations because he could not wait. He had not built up the loyal, partisan following. He instead launched a small website, put the Labour brand on it and expected instant status and standing because of it. Then when he has the tiniest advantage to exploit he makes the classic leftist mistake. He thinks the rules only apply to others.

We have all been there. You get into an argument with a leftie and when they know they are losing they start building the straw men. “all you fascists hate faggots” I have heard before. When challenged apparently these bastions of equal opportunities claim that they use this kind of language because it “shocks” us and is to confront our prejudices. They use the self same offensive language they they claim the other lot do. Projectionism while they destroy the village to save the village.

So it was thus that Draper, while attacking Guido for not removing 5 remarks that he himself had judged racist (and to devalue his opinion about 10 that were clearly not racist but were clutching at straws trying to build a narrative) he managed to call the Guido fanbase “window lickers”.

When called on this stupid use of language the trained 40 year old clinical psychotherapist claims never to have heard the term used as abusive to those with Downs. Indeed he claimed he thought that it related to kids who “licked the window of a sweet shop” because of course everyone knows that the windows of a sweet shop taste of KitKat.

When faced with a situation he could not control, orchestrated by individuals who are immune to his bully boy rhetoric he resorted to base insults and made him the laughing stock.

It is Draper that does not get the internet. It is he who is playing by someone lses rules and trying to change them to his own. But he will fail. And while he does it gives us an excuse to constantly post pictures of the woman who inexplicably chose him as a mate.

Spawn spawns and sells story

It is well known in economic circles that if you subsidise something then you get more of it. The best example is the world famous butter mountains that the EU periodically spawn.

In the past the EU farming subsidies paid mainly to the French have distorted the markets so that we in the EU pay “cheaper” prices for EU produce, squeezing other producers out of the market. Of course these things are not cheaper – we already pay for the product once through EU contributions that are then redistributed as farming subsidies but the fact is we subsidise wheat, corn, milk or anything else and we get more of it.

Indeed the reverse is also true. In the perverted world of the EU you are subsidised to let your fields go fallow (thereby increasing your “production” of nothing) in order to compensate for when the first lot of subsidies produce too much. It is of course impossible for the EU simply to cut subsidies on actual production as this causes the French farmers to take to the streets and burn goats in front of Parisian branches of McDonalds.

And this theory holds true for one of the greatest “unspeakable” truths in the UK today.

Say it quietly for you don’t want to get the professional victims blood up. But if you subsidise having children then you will produce more children.

First up I should explain that this is a theme that I am expanding on from the First Lady of conservative politics Ann Coulter. A number of months ago she wrote (much better than I) about the effects of child benefit in the US (cannot find the link at the moment). She drew a link between the ever rising child benefits available and the ever rising birth rates particularly into fatherless, incomeless “poverty families”. And she noted that when Bush cut child benefit the birth rate into these demographics dropped. If you subsidise something you get more of it, if you cut subsidies you get less of it.

The ever thought provoking Trixy is pointing out that the politicians are taking our tax money away from our own families to give it to people in reward for having babies. The case of the alleged 13-year-old father in the news at the tail end of last week appears to be transforming into a one stop shop for confirming everything you ever suspected about the cattle subsidies we give to the subclass of humanity festering in the sink estates of this country.

Simple fact is that we are now at a point in time where we are making dubious heroes out of these children having babies. Alfie says he will be a good parent but I would agree with Trixy that he does not have the skills or experience to even comprehend what that means or entails.

Alfie himself sprang from the loins of a feckless whoremonger who has sired 9 children by different women, Alfie’s babymama may actually be the local bike who has slept with other local boys who now appear very keen to be saddled with a baby that has appeared on the front page of The Sun and all this is played out in such a way as to somehow glamorise the appalling situation that they have gotten themselves into.

The families of the two children, who have managed to somehow produce the generation that will pay for Jeremy Kyle’s girls to go to private school, are not upset that their babies are having babies but that the taxpayer funded Social Services department are living up to their expectations on the level of service. Their reaction has been that they feel their expected level of entitlement has not been fulfilled.

We have subsidised these people to reproduce like human cattle. And their first reaction to a physical manifestation of statutory rape was not to hunt down the boy that defiled their daughter and kill him in the most horrific manner possible. No, it was to immediate cry that the government is not giving them enough free money.

Here is a thought. Go out and earn money in a job. Can’t get a job before you turn 16? Should have thought about that before you chucked your muck up inside the Estate Entertainment Centre.

If the next Tory government wants to do something about these parasites then the first thing it should do is scrap the child benefits and incorporate it back into a child element of personal tax allowance. That way only those earning an actual wage will “benefit” and even then it will be by keeping more of your own money.

I don't get it?

This link to a BBC article on the "horror" of Jeremy Clarkson.

But Gordon Brown is Scottish.

He DOES only have one eye.

And he is more than an idiot, he is a grade A mentalist who claims to have foreseen the current problem but declined to do anything about it while saying he has saved the world and that we will see growth by Christmas despite just calling what we are in a depression.

So I fail to see how anyone could find any of what Jeremy said to be inaccurate.

Oh wait. My mistake. The bastion if impartiality that is the BBC only sought comment on the remark from Labour politicians.

Why is there an SSPCA?

I have never understood this.

The Scottish SPCA is picking a fight with the Royal SPCA over who should donate. The SSPCA says that Scots should not donate to the RSPCA because they don't have a Scottish remit.

So my thought is why have an SSPCA? Why is there two almost identically named charities with the same goals serving different geographical areas? It seems to me that this is duplication of effort. Why pay the money for similar command structures? Surely this is duplicating expense and that is money not being spent on sick donkeys?

Can you go a chicken supper?

Shit stained, murdering, terrorist scumbag.

Dead, shit stained, murdering, terrorist scumbag.

There. No need to see this movie. You know everything you need to know.

Ethnocentric Conservatism

Much has been made of the election of Obama. Needless to say I am not partaking of the kool-aid. I will detail why it is obvious to anyone with an impartial mind why he was not a suitable candidate at a later time.

In the meantime I urge you to bookmark this link. He is a fresh voice against those who revel in victimhood on the American Left.

And more power to him. So to speak.

Enough to make me want to cut up my Executive Club card

Left Wing Racism

It has always been a persistent lie that racist politics has been the preserve of the right in politics.

If you ever talk to someone identifying themselves with right-of-centre politics then you usually hear "I don't care as long as you work/pay tax/keep the lawn tidy". Those on the right don't really care about race. We accept all as long as they are good neighbours and pay their way in the world.

On the Left they are all about race. Identity is the centre of their politics. Favouring or promoting special interest groups is pretty much their core operations. They need the minority ethnics or sexual orientation groups to go into bat when their ill thought out emotionally driven policies need pushed. Who would argue with the poorly paid worker? Or the lesbian outreach councillor? Anyone who does is labeled a reactionary/racist or worse. They are an effective way of shutting down debate when your arguments or policies are dangerous or unpopular. Kind of why for 8 years Bush=Hitler.

So it was with some satisfaction that I am watching footage of Unite union officials stand up and call for "British Jobs for British Workers" (readers may recall unions denouncing Brown for using that phrase last year as the language of the BNP*).

Of course what the unions are not happy about is that these Johnny Foreigners are non-union, they don't pay any dues and they threaten their power base. But all we can see on the telly is the champions of left wing politics telling people that those with a funny accent are unwelcome and dangerous.

Savour the irony and remember that the next time anyone tries to tell you that left wingers are a tolerant bunch.

*Anyone who has ever read the really shitty document that is the BNP election manifesto will know that their politics are of increased public spending, increased taxation and increased state powers. Everything the Labour movement stands for. The only thing that they differ on is their open xenophobia.

Hello

Wow, look. I have a blog.

My worthless ill-informed opinions are now on the net. I have an undeserved sense of importance.

Cool.
